MAMA is one of those Thai instant noodle brands you see everywhere, and the Stew Beef Flavor is the artificial beef variant in their Oriental Style line.
Produced in Thailand.

What’s in the Package
Inside the maroon foil packaging you’ll find a small square block of thin wavy wheat noodles. It also includes two seasoning packets: a dry soup base powder and a separate oil and flavor packet.

How to Cook MAMA Stew Beef Flavor Instant Noodles
- Put the noodles and both seasoning packets into a bowl.
- Pour in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, cover the bowl, and let it sit for 3 minutes.
- Give it a stir and serve.

How Does It Taste
James said he liked the first sip. I thought it was salty and slightly sweet with very little actual beef character underneath.
The broth is thin and brown, more of a savory soy and caramel impression than a stewed beef one. There is a faint celery and shallot note from the seasoning, but the beef is more of a suggestion than a flavor. No heat at all.
The package calls for 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, and at that ratio the broth is concentrated in a way that makes the salt even more noticeable. Next time I’d push closer to 1.75 cups and give the noodles another minute of steep.

How Does It Compare
One of the closest comparisons on the site is theย Lucky Me Bulalo Instant Noodle Soup. The Bulalo delivers an actual stewed beef depth with bone and marrow character. This MAMA reads thinner and saltier next to it.
From the same brand, theย MAMA Pho Bo Beef Noodle Soupย is a cleaner take on a beef broth, leaning Vietnamese with star anise and cinnamon notes instead of the generic stew direction this one is pointing at. If you want beef depth, reach for the Bulalo. If you want a lighter Thai beef pack, this one is fine as a base to build on but not something I’d eat plain.
How to Level Up MAMA Stew Beef Flavor Instant Noodles
The first thing I’d do is dial the water back up. A cup and three quarters to two cups thins the salt out enough that the beef and shallot notes have room to come through. James also flagged fresh jalapeรฑos, which sounds right for this one. The packet has no heat on its own, and a few thin jalapeรฑo slices on top give the bowl a brightness and kick that the base seasoning is missing.
To actually push it into a beef-forward bowl, you need real beef in there. A small portion ofย Spicy Sauteed Beefย stirred in at the end covers the gap the seasoning doesn’t fill. If you want to go further, theย Sapporo Beef Ramen with Corned Beef and Jalapenosย recipe translates cleanly to this noodle: swap in MAMA Stew Beef, keep the corned beef and jalapeรฑo combo.

Final Verdict
MAMA Stew Beef Flavor is a salty, thin beef pack with noodles that come out firmer than I’d like at the package ratio. There’s not enough beef character in the seasoning to carry the bowl on its own, and the broth leans sweet and salty in a way that reads artificial. As an eat straight out of the pack bowl, James and I both said we probably wouldn’t grab this one again.
