Samyang’s Buldak Spicy Ramen is known for its intense flavor. Today, we’re building on that base by incorporating additional ingredients to create a more substantial and complex dish.

Ingredients
- Samyang Buldak Spicy Ramen: You can use the original, or if you’re feeling brave, go for the 2x spicy.
- SPAM: We’re cubing this up, and it’s gonna add a salty, savory kick that you didn’t know you needed. (how to cube)
- Beansprouts: Crunchy, fresh, and surprisingly good in spicy noodles. These are going add some texture and help cut through the spice a little bit. Here is my guide on how to wash beansprouts and different ways to cook it.
- Garlic: Thinly sliced garlic. Because garlic makes everything better.
- Scallions: We’re using these for a pop of color and a bit of freshness. Plus, they look fancy. (how to prepare)
- Egg: One egg, fried however you like it. But I suggest a runny yolk. You can check out my other blog post on how to fry an egg.
- Cooking Oil: Just enough oil to fry the egg.
- Optional: Sesame seeds, chili flakes.
How To Make This Spicy Noodle Recipe
Fry the Egg First:
- Get your egg going. Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Gently crack the egg into the hot pan.
- Cook to your preference:
- Sunny-side up: Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the whites are set but the yolk is still runny.
- Over-easy: Cook for 2-3 minutes, then gently flip and cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute. The yolk will still be runny.
- Over-medium: Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes. The yolk will be slightly set.
- Carefully remove the egg from the pan and set it aside.
Boil the Water, Dump Everything In:
- Grab a pot and boil 500ml of water.
- Throw in the noodle brick, those SPAM cubes, the beansprouts, and the garlic slices. Just dump it all in. We’re not trying to be fancy.
- Cook it all until the noodles are done, soft but not mush, about 3-5 minutes.
Save a Bit of Water, Strain the Rest:
- Before you drain everything, save about a quarter cup of the noodle water. You’ll need it.
- Strain the rest of the water out.
Sauce It Up, Cook It Down:
- Put everything back in the pot, water included.
- Add the sauce packet and the sesame seed packet from the ramen.
- Turn the heat to medium-high and stir it all together.
Cook it down, stirring constantly, until the liquid’s mostly gone. You want it thick and saucy.

- Top with your fried egg.
- Throw some sliced scallions on top for color.
- If you want, add some extra sesame seeds or chili flakes.
Enjoy:
Just eat it. It’s good.

Frequently Asked Questions
The base is Samyang Buldak, which is known for its intense spice. You can adjust the heat by using less of the sauce packet or opting for the mild version. Adding cheese will help cut the spice as well.
Absolutely! Cooked chicken, pork belly, beef, or even tofu work well. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly.
The noodle water helps to loosen the sauce and create a smoother consistency. It also adds a bit of starch, which thickens the sauce.
If you’re concerned about saltiness, you can use less of the sauce packet or omit the optional soy sauce. Adding more vegetables can also balance the saltiness.
