If you’ve watched my videos, you know I love a good seared steak to go with my noodles. Today, we’re taking the rich creaminess of Samyang Cream Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen and elevating it with tender seared steak and sautéed mushrooms for an indulgent ramen experience. This recipe brings together spicy, creamy, and savory flavors in one satisfying bowl.

How to Make This Recipe

  1. Sear the Steak: Season the strip steak with salt and pepper (or your preferred steak seasoning). Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with cooking oil. Sear the steak on both sides to your desired doneness. If you need a refresher, check out my full guide on how to sear a strip steak. Remove from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board. Do not wash the skillet.

  1. Saute the Mushrooms: In the unwashed skillet (using the leftover fat from searing the steak – gotta maximize that flavor!), saute the sliced portabella mushrooms over medium heat until they are tender and browned. Set aside.

  1. Cook the Noodles: Bring water to a boil and cook the Samyang Cream Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen noodles for 4 minutes (instead of the full 5). Drain the noodles, saving about a quarter cup of the noodle cooking water. Set the noodle water aside.
  1. Combine Flavors: Add the cooked and drained noodles to the skillet with the sautéed mushrooms. Pour the noodle water into the skillet. Add the seasoning packets from the Samyang Cream Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen. Stir everything together over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the noodles.
  1. Add Spinach: Stir in the spinach until it wilts into the creamy sauce.
  1. Plate and Garnish: Slice the rested steak against the grain. Transfer the creamy carbonara buldak with mushrooms to a bowl. Top with 4-5 slices of the steak (or as much as you want) with the sliced green onions and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy!

My Pro Tip

Recipe Tip

Don’t overcook the noodles in the initial boiling stage, as they will continue to cook in the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Samyang Cream Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen
  • 120 g strip steak, sear whole, use about 120g sliced
  • 1 tbsp coarse salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 55 g portabella mushrooms, sliced
  • 10 g spinach
  • 10 g scallions, sliced
  • Parmesan cheese, grated, to taste

Instructions

  • Sprinkle the entire strip steak generously with the coarse salt and ground black pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with cooking oil until it shimmers. Place the steak in the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board to rest for a few minutes.
  • Place the skillet (don’t wash it yet, as it has flavorful steak bits) back over medium heat. Add the sliced portabella mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and have browned. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a pot. Add the ramen noodles from the package and cook for 4 minutes, or until softened. Before draining, scoop out about a quarter cup of the noodle cooking water and set it aside. Then, drain the remaining water from the noodles.
  • Add the cooked and drained noodles and the sautéed mushrooms to the skillet. Pour in the reserved juices from the reserved noodle cooking water. Add the seasoning packets from the Samyang Creamy Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen. Stir everything together over medium-high heat for about 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly and evenly coats the noodles and mushrooms. Stir in the spinach and cook until the leaves wilt down, about 1 minute.
  • Transfer the creamy carbonara buldak with the mushrooms to a serving bowl. Slice the rested steak against the grain. Top with the thinly sliced scallions and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy!
