Creamy Carbonara Buldak with Seared Steak & Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 1 package Samyang Cream Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen
  • 120 g strip steak sear whole, use about 120g sliced
  • 1 tbsp coarse salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 55 g portabella mushrooms sliced
  • 10 g spinach
  • 10 g scallions sliced
  • Parmesan cheese grated, to taste

Instructions

  • Sprinkle the entire strip steak generously with the coarse salt and ground black pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with cooking oil until it shimmers. Place the steak in the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board to rest for a few minutes.
  • Place the skillet (don't wash it yet, as it has flavorful steak bits) back over medium heat. Add the sliced portabella mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and have browned. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a pot. Add the ramen noodles from the package and cook for 4 minutes, or until softened. Before draining, scoop out about a quarter cup of the noodle cooking water and set it aside. Then, drain the remaining water from the noodles.
  • Add the cooked and drained noodles and the sautéed mushrooms to the skillet. Pour in the reserved juices from the reserved noodle cooking water. Add the seasoning packets from the Samyang Creamy Carbonara Buldak Spicy Ramen. Stir everything together over medium-high heat for about 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly and evenly coats the noodles and mushrooms. Stir in the spinach and cook until the leaves wilt down, about 1 minute.
  • Transfer the creamy carbonara buldak with the mushrooms to a serving bowl. Slice the rested steak against the grain. Top with the thinly sliced scallions and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy!
