Sometimes you need a little twist on your classic instant ramen, and this recipe delivers. We’re taking the comforting beefy flavor of Sapporo Ichiban and kicking it up a notch with salty corned beef and a welcome punch of jalapeno heat. It’s a surprisingly delicious combination that’s easy to whip up.

Hands holding bowl of noodles

Ingredients

green onions, jalapenos, sapporo ichiban beef noodles, corned beef, and trumpet mushroom on cutting board
  • Sapporo Ichiban Beef Flavored Instant Noodles: Provides the foundational beef flavor and noodles for the dish.
  • Canned corned beef: Adds a salty, savory, and distinct beefy element that complements the instant ramen.
  • Jalapeno: Introduces a spicy kick that cuts through the richness of the beef and adds a vibrant flavor.
  • Trumpet mushroom: Offers an earthy and slightly chewy texture that enhances the savory notes.
  • Green Onions: Provides a fresh, mild oniony garnish that adds a final touch of flavor and visual appeal.

How to Make This Recipe

  1. Cook the Sapporo Ichiban noodles according to package instructions in boiling water, but do not add the seasoning packet yet.
  2. Reserve about a quarter cup of the cooking liquid
  3. Drain the rest of the water from the noodles. Set the noodles aside.
  1. In the same saucepan (or another skillet), add the canned corned beef over medium-high heat. Cook for a few minutes, breaking it up with a spatula.
  2. Add the diced jalapeรฑo to the corned beef and cook for another minute, allowing it to soften slightly and release its heat.
  3. Stir in the chopped trumpet mushroom and cook for a couple of more minutes until it starts to soften.
  1. Pour the reserved noodle cooking liquid into the saucepan.
  2. Add the seasoning packet from the Sapporo Ichiban Beef Flavored Instant Noodles and stir well to combine with the corned beef and vegetables.
  3. Add the cooked ramen noodles to the saucepan and toss everything together until the noodles are coated in the flavorful mixture.
  4. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a little extra water to reach your desired consistency.
  1. Assemble in a bowl and garnish with freshly chopped green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy this savory and slightly spicy upgrade.

Plating

Arrange the noodles, corned beef, mushrooms, and jalapeรฑos in a bowl. The bright green of the onions will add a nice visual contrast.

My Pro Tip

Recipe Tip

Be mindful of the saltiness of the corned beef โ€“ you may not need to add any additional salt to the dish. Taste as you go!

Can I use fresh beef instead of corned beef?

Yes, you could use leftover cooked beef or sear some ground beef, but the salty, distinct flavor of corned beef works particularly well here.

Can I use different mushrooms?

Yes, other mushrooms like shiitake or oyster would also be tasty.

How spicy will this be?

The spice level will depend on the jalapeรฑo you use and how much you add. Start with a small amount and taste.
