No one’s rated this one yet. Be the first. The Ve Wong Oriental Style Instant Noodles Vegetarian Flavor is from Taiwan, and itโs the third Ve Wong flavor Iโve tried after the Sesame Chicken and the Spicy Beef. For James, it was a nostalgic bowl since he grew up eating it.
Produced in Taiwan by Ve Wong Corporation.

What’s in the Package
Inside the wrapper is a square block of fried wheat noodles and two flavor sachets. The first is a seasoning powder packet mixed with dehydrated vegetables like cabbage, carrot, string bean, mushroom, and seaweed. The second is a liquid oil sachet.

How to Cook Ve Wong Oriental Style Instant Noodles Vegetarian
Bowl method:
- Put the noodles, seasoning, and oil into a bowl.
- Pour in 450ml of boiling water.
- Cover and let stand for 3 minutes before serving.
Stovetop method:
- Bring 2 cups (about 500ml) of water to a boil.
- Add the noodles and cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the seasoning and oil, mix well, and serve.

How Does It Taste
The first thing I noticed was how oily the broth is. Itโs more oily than youโd expect from a vegetarian instant noodle. The flavor is simple. You can taste sesame oil, shallots, MSG and vegetable seasoning. Thatโs about it.
Itโs bland, but itโs one of those comforting bowls. I kind of like it. Itโs what you eat when you want something warm and easy.
The noodles are thin, a 1 out of 5 on thickness.
How Does It Compare
Out of the three Ve Wong flavors on this site, the Vegetarian is the plainest. The Sesame Chicken has rice wine and chicken fat, so thereโs more going on. The Spicy Beef has star anise and Chinese cinnamon, so you know exactly what it is. The Vegetarian is either exactly what you want or not enough, depending on the day. The Samyang Vegetasty is the other plain vegetarian instant ramen on this site, but it has a little spice.

How to Level Up Ve Wong Oriental Style Instant Noodles Vegetarian
If I had napa cabbage, Iโd add it, plus an egg, scallions and bok choy. Pretty much any vegetable works in here. Crack the egg right into the hot broth and stir it through.

Final Verdict
Itโs bland, but itโs one of those comforting bowls, and I kind of like it. The sesame and shallot broth is simple, so itโs an easy one to add vegetables and an egg to.
