The Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor is a Hong Kong import and the first thing James and I both noticed when we opened it was how full the cup was. Unlike most cup noodles that leave a significant gap at the top, this one was nearly filled to the brim. That’s a good sign before you even add water.

Produced in Hong Kong.

What’s in the Package

Inside the cup, youโ€™ll find wheat noodles filled nearly to the brim, topped with a pre-mixed layer of dehydrated crab sticks, sweet corn, carrots, and green onions, all dusted in a seafood powder.

How to Cook Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor (Hong Kong)

  1. Peel back the lid halfway to reveal the noodles and pre-mixed toppings.
  2. Pour boiling water into the cup up to the indicated inner fill line.
  3. Close the lid securely and let it sit for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid and stir thoroughly, making sure to reach the bottom so the seafood seasoning is fully dissolved.

How Does It Taste

The crab flavor is front and center and unapologetically so. Heavy MSG, and it has generous amounts of imitation crab bits, corn, carrots, and green onions in it. Every bite has something in it. James appreciated that the toppings actually feel like part of the experience rather than an afterthought.

The broth is thin at a 1 out of 5 on viscosity but intensely savory. It is quite salty. It was more than some people may want. The MSG richness is the dominant quality.

Spice is 0 out of 5. Noodles are thin wavy cup noodle format at a 1 out of 5 on thickness.

How Does It Compare

The Nissin Cup Noodle Seafood is the most direct comparison. It’s also a Nissin seafood cup with real dried seafood pieces. The Hong Kong Crab Flavor is saltier and more MSG-forward. The Seafood version has a more balanced broth. Both are worth trying for the seafood cup noodle category. The Po Po Cha Cha Spicy Clam Ramen is one of the most impressive seafood instant ramen on the site if you want a step up.

How to Level Up Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor (Hong Kong)

It needs something sour to balance the salt and MSG richness. I would add kimchi or Chinese pickled cabbage. A small splash of extra water above the fill line if the salt is too much for you.

Final Verdict

The Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor is a solid nostalgic bowl. The crab flavor is convincing, the cup is packed, and the savory punch hits the spot. Watch the salt level and add kimchi on the side. James and I would both reach for this one again.
