The imitation crab cakes, dried squid bits, and egg already in the cup before you add water are what make this one worth grabbing off the shelf.

Produced in Japan.

What’s in the Package

Inside the cup, you’ll find thin wheat noodles with the seasoning and garnishes already loose inside. These include pieces of squid, imitation crab stick, scrambled egg bits, cabbage, and green onion, all layered over a seafood soup powder.

  2. Pour boiling water up to the inside fill line (approx. 300ml).

  4. Remove the lid, stir thoroughly to ensure the powder at the bottom is fully dissolved, and enjoy.

How Does It Taste

The small imitation crab cakes and dried squid are the highlights. They add a seafood character and a textural variety that most cup noodles don’t have. The egg is a nice touch too. The broth is a clean savory seafood base. It’s not deep or complex but appropriate for what the bowl is going for.

One note on preparation, add a little more water than the instructions suggest. The powder didn’t dissolve as well as I’d hoped the first time around and extra water helps it distribute evenly throughout the broth.

No spice, thin broth, thin wavy noodles. Straightforward cup noodle format.

How Does It Compare

Within the Nissin Cup Noodle lineup this is the most interesting format because of the included seafood components. The Curry has the more distinctive flavor. For a more premium seafood instant noodle experience the Nissin Cup Noodles Black Pepper Crab and Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor Hong Kong are both worth trying.

How to Level Up Nissin Cup Noodle Seafood

Crab balls dropped in right before serving add more seafood texture than the small imitation pieces already in the cup. Green onions on top. A drizzle of chili oil if you want some heat against the seafood broth.

Final Verdict

The included seafood components are the reason to try this one. The broth is simple but the crab cakes and squid bits make it more interesting than a standard cup noodle. Add more water than the package says and eat it fast before the noodles go soft.

I personally hated it. It did not taste like seafood at all. It also just tastes bad.

Good broth with toppings, but noodles get soggy fast. Flavour becomes tiring after a while. Perfect for nostalgia!

Think about its overall taste (savory, sweet, sour), richness, and authenticity to the advertised flavor.
Think about their texture, consistency, and how well they held up in the broth.
