Tapatio Shrimp smells even more perfumey than the Chicken, if thatโ€™s possible. Once youโ€™re eating it, the two taste almost the same. The Shrimp just has less spice.

Produced in Vietnam for Tapatio Foods, LLC.

What’s in the Package

Inside the cup, there’s a round block of fried wheat noodles and seasoning powder. The noodles are coated in a fine, reddish-orange shrimp seasoning powder and topped with a mix of dehydrated vegetables.

How Does It Taste

You can barely taste shrimp. It smells more perfumey than the Chicken, but that doesnโ€™t come through when you eat it. It has less spice than the Chicken. Itโ€™s very one-note. Thereโ€™s just not much flavor.

The noodles are thin and wavy, and the broth is thin. This one needs toppings.

How Does It Compare

Of the Tapatio flavors Iโ€™ve reviewed, the Shrimp is the mildest. The Chicken is almost the same, with a little more heat. The Original doesnโ€™t have much flavor either. The Carne Asada with Lime is the only one that tastes different. If you want instant ramen that actually tastes like shrimp, the MAMA Tom Yum Shrimp and Maruchan Shrimp Flavor are both better.

How to Level Up Tapatio Shrimp Ramen Noodle Soup

I want some char on this. Grilled meat would be great. Even canned roasted green chilies would help. You can just put them on top. Add some Valentina hot sauce too.

Final Verdict

This tastes almost the same as the Chicken, just milder. Itโ€™s very one-note. The perfumey smell is the only thing thatโ€™s different. Add grilled meat, roasted green chilies and Valentina and it gets better. On its own thereโ€™s not much here.
