Tapatio Carne Asada with Lime is the most distinct flavor in the Tapatio lineup. The lime hits you immediately when you open the packet and the barbecue smoke that comes through is something you don’t typically get from an instant ramen broth.

Produced in Vietnam. Distributed by the United States.

What’s in the Package

Inside the packaging, you’ll find a round block of fried wheat noodles and two sachets. The green sachet contains the Vegetable Flakes, while the brown sachet holds the Carne Asada with Lime soup base powder.

Noodle brick, vegetable flakes, carne asada soup base.

How to Cook Tapatรญo Carne Asada with Lime

How Does It Taste

The lime is the first thing we tasted. It’s noticeable and bright without being too sour. Cumin comes through clearly in the spice blend alongside a distinct barbecue smoke flavor. The combination is interesting and more developed than the other Tapatio varieties we’ve tried. Spice is a 2 out of 5. It’s pleasant and gentle rather than punchy. James and I both agreed it’s the most flavorful of the Tapatio lineup.

The noodles are thin and wavy at a 1 out of 5 on thickness. Don’t overcook them. They go mushy fast. Thin broth, nothing remarkable on the noodle side, but the seasoning does the work.

How Does It Compare

Within the Tapatio lineup the Carne Asada is the most distinct and interesting flavor. The Original, Chicken, and Shrimp all share a similar onion garlic base. The Carne Asada with Lime is the only one that goes in a different direction with the cumin and barbecue smoke. If you’re going to try one Tapatio variety start here.

How to Level Up Tapatio Carne Asada with Lime Ramen Noodle Soup

I would add som grilled flank steak sliced thin on top. Fresh cilantro and Mexican oregano build on the existing flavor profile and add the freshness the thin broth needs.

Final Verdict

The best bowl in the Tapatio lineup. The cumin and barbecue lime combination gives it a flavor identity the other varieties don’t have. Watch the cook time on the noodles and load it up with steak and cilantro.
