Nongshim Spicy & Creamy Toomba Stir Fry Noodles in packaging

This ramen feels like Nongshim’s direct response to Samyang’s Buldak, and they nailed it. In particular, their cheese or carbonara version. It comes with both a powder and sauce packet.

Produced in South Korea.

The cheesy smell is incredibly appealing, and even without a broth, the creaminess is absolutely perfect. I’m also a fan of how it’s not as sweet as Samyang’s version. It’s got a surprising flavor that reminds me of alfredo. It’s a unique and tasty twist for a ramen.

To level up the creamy noodles, adding sliced hotdogs would be great while finishing up the noodles. Kimchi and pickled jalapenos would also be great complements for the creamy and spicy noodles.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you determine the spice level?

For the spice level, my friend James, who taste tests the ramens with me, gives his rating out of 5 based on his experience with the heat. My own spice tolerance tends to be higher than most, so James’s rating gives a more general sense of the spiciness. Keep in mind that spice is still subjective, so what’s mild for him might be spicy for you, and vice versa!

What does “Broth Viscosity” mean?

That’s how thick or thin the broth is. A 1/5 would be very watery, while a 5/5 would be super thick and almost syrupy.

How do you rate “Noodle Thickness”?

This is just a general gauge of how thick the noodles are compared to other instant ramen noodles I’ve tried. A 1/5 would be very thin, like vermicelli, and a 5/5 would be very thick and wide.

What do you mean by “Noodle Type”?

Here, I’m just describing the style or texture of the noodles, like “udon-like” for a chewy and thick noodle, or “thin and curly” for a more classic instant ramen style.

I hate buldak carbonara, but I loved this! I paired it with pan-seared sirloin steak and it was so good! I might have missed some of the sweetness the other reviews are talking about, though, since my steak was heavily spiced (and might have overpowered). I’ve already repurchased, and I recommend you guys give this a try as well.

Honestly would not repurchase, the worst one shin ramen have brought out! Too sweet for my taste and not a good flavour profile.

Prefer Buldak over this, the cheese felt too strong and artificial for my liking. Made my stomach acidic, but is a good kick. Other classic Shin flavours are better, though!

I LOVE THESE NOODLES!!! If you love sweet-ish noodles then these are the ones for you! I thought I didn’t like it at first but then the flavour grew on me and I’m addicted now although I do have one complaint; it’s labelled as ‘spicy’ but genuinely theres is no spice at all….which is a shame cause this would definitely be a lot more bangin’ if it was spicy. I just add on some spicy toppings for the kick hahaha. The noodles themselves hold up really well, just like the other Shin Ramyun.

Think about its overall taste (savory, sweet, sour), richness, and authenticity to the advertised flavor.
Think about their texture, consistency, and how well they held up in the broth.
