The Acecook Hu Tieu Oh! Ricey Noodles Spare Ribs Flavor is a Vietnamese instant Hu Tieu. It’s a style of noodle soup that’s distinct from pho in its lighter, sweeter broth and clear noodle base. Acecook is a well-established Vietnamese brand and the Oh! Ricey range is their rice noodle entry into the instant market.
Produced in Vietnam.

What’s in the Package
Inside the Oh! Ricey pack, youโll find a nest of thin rice noodles and three specific flavoring packets. There’s a soup powder, oil packet, and dried vegetables packet.

How to Prepare It
- Place the rice noodle nest and all three seasoning packets into a bowl.
- Pour 400ml (1 ยพ cups) of boiling water into the bowl.
- Cover the bowl with a lid or plate and let it sit for 3 minutes.
- Uncover, stir well to incorporate the oil and powder, and enjoy.

How Does It Taste
The broth smells almost like a pho broth, but without the star anise that defines pho’s signature fragrance. After a sip, we noticed that it was aggressively sweet. Hu Tieu traditionally has a slightly sweeter profile than pho but this version leans hard into an artificial sugar character that overshoots the mark.
The MSG presence is heavy and the shallot oil packet leaves a greasy mouthfeel that accumulates through the bowl. The spare rib flavor is the subtlest element of the whole experience.
The rice noodles are the clear highlight. Clear, delicate, and similar in character to a mung bean or glass noodle, they have a texture that’s pleasant and distinct from standard instant wheat noodles. They can’t rescue the broth from its one-note sweetness but they’re the reason to seek this product out.
Spice is minimal and the broth sits on the thinner, oilier end of the viscosity scale.

How Does It Compare
The most natural comparison on the site in terms of Vietnamese rice noodle instant products is the Vifon Instant Bean Thread Chicken Flavor which also uses a clear noodle format. The Vifon has a lighter, cleaner broth without the aggressive sweetness that dominates here.
The Chin-Su PhoStory Beef Flavored Pho is the more successful Vietnamese instant noodle in terms of broth authenticity. The star anise and cinnamon depth land more convincingly than the spare rib flavor does here.
How to Level Up Acecook Hu Tieu Oh! Ricey Noodles Spare Ribs Flavor
I would add bean sprouts first since the crunch will help cut through the grease and sweetness. Squeeze a good amount of lime in and add some fresh cilantro on top.
For heat I’d go sambal over chili oil here. The broth is already pretty oily from the shallot packet so adding more oil on top just compounds it. Sambal adds heat and some acidity at the same time which is what this bowl needs.

Final Verdict
The noodles are the best part. The broth is where it falls apart. It’s sweet and oily in a way that the smell doesn’t warn you about. Squeeze lime over it, add bean sprouts, cilantro, and sambal, and it gets a lot better.
