Vifon is a Vietnamese brand with a long history of instant noodle production, and this uses bean thread glass noodles instead of the standard wheat brick.

Produced in Vietnam.

Vifon Instant Bean Thread Chicken Flavor in packaging

What’s in the Package

Inside you get a bundle of translucent glass noodles, a soup base powder packet, and a small oil packet. The noodles are thin, white, and almost see-through right out of the package.

How to Prepare It

Put the bean thread noodles into a bowl along with all the soup base packets. Pour about 400ml of boiling water over everything and cover the bowl for 3 minutes. Uncover, stir well, and serve.

How Does It Taste

When I opened the packet, the first thing I noticed was a strong citrus note. It’s quite different from a traditional chicken broth smell and caught me off guard. That lemon forward quality carries through into the bowl and ends up being the dominant flavor rather than the chicken. For me personally, it wasn’t what I was expecting from the name.

The broth is very light and thin. If you go in knowing that, you can work with it. It’s really more of a base than a full flavored soup on its own.

Where this product shines is the noodles. The glass noodle texture is bouncy and light, and they hold up beautifully without going soft. That’s not easy to achieve in an instant format and it’s worth calling out. I kept thinking about how well these noodles would work dressed up with the right toppings.

How to Level It Up

Heavy amounts of cilantro and green onions brighten the bowl and complement the light broth rather than fight it. I would also add a soft-boiled egg, tofu, poached chicken, and chili oil.

Final Verdict

The glass noodles are one of the better textures I’ve come across in an instant format. The broth leans citrus forward and very light, so going in with toppings ready makes a real difference. With the right additions this becomes a solid light meal. Without them it’s a harder sell.
