Trader Joeโ€™s Soy & Sesame Ramen tastes like soy and sesame. Iโ€™ve had this one before, and for me the noodles are the reason to buy it.

Produced in Taiwan for Trader Joe’s.

What’s in the Package

Inside the packaging, youโ€™ll find a square block of air-dried wheat noodles and a single white sachet of Soy & Sesame sauce.

How to Cook Trader Joe’s Soy & Sesame Ramen

  1. Bring at least 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add one noodle pack and cook for 4 minutes.
  3. Drain the noodles well.
  4. Put the noodles in a bowl, add the Soy & Sesame sauce and stir to coat.

How Does It Taste

It tastes like soy and sesame, with a little peanut taste in there too. Itโ€™s simple. The sauce is thin and needs some help.

The noodles are the best part. Theyโ€™re thick, a 3 out of 5, and they have a nice chew. Theyโ€™re better than most instant noodles youโ€™ll find at an American grocery store.

How Does It Compare

The sauce tastes closest to the Sapporo Ichiban Chow Mein. Both are dry noodles that mostly taste like soy. The Sapporo Ichiban has seaweed, which makes it a little more interesting. The Trader Joeโ€™s has thicker noodles.

How to Level Up Trader Joe’s Soy & Sesame Ramen

I would add a little vinegar to this one. White vinegar works if thatโ€™s what you have, but Chinese black vinegar is even better. Add some fresh garlic too. Even garlic powder is better than nothing. For meat, chicken or pork works. Bacon is good too. Throw it in while you boil the noodles.

Final Verdict

The sauce is basic. The noodles are not. If youโ€™re at Trader Joeโ€™s and want something for a quick weeknight bowl, grab this. Add vinegar, garlic and some bacon.

I did not like the flavor but the noodles were really good. I would prefer the noodles with a different broth or flavoring.

I had the spicy version – It was not spicy at all. The sesame paste was watery but the noodles are good.

pretty bland sauce, but the noodles were well-made! i ended up throwing away the sauce packets and just cooking the noodles alone for a stirfry when i bought these.

Think about its overall taste (savory, sweet, sour), richness, and authenticity to the advertised flavor.
Think about their texture, consistency, and how well they held up in the broth.
