I didn’t expect much from Snapdragon Chicken Ramen. It’s a cup noodle and I’d tried other Snapdragon varieties that were hit or miss. This one surprised me completely.

Produced in Vietnam.

What’s in the Package

Inside the packaging, you will find a round block of wheat noodles and three sachets. A large transparent sachet contains a colorful mix of dried vegetables, while a smaller transparent sachet holds a chili oil with visible red pepper flakes. Finally, a silver sachet contains the concentrated chicken soup base powder.

How to Cook Snapdragon Chicken Ramen

  1. Place the dry noodles and the contents of the vegetable and soup base sachets into a bowl.
  2. Pour 1.5 cups (about 350ml) of boiling water into the bowl.
  3. Cover and let it sit for 3 to 4 minutes until the noodles are tender.
  4. Stir in the chili oil sachet. You can adjust the amount of oil to control the heat level.

How Does It Taste

The broth is rich and has a creaminess that most budget cup chicken ramens don’t have. There’s a fatty chicken flavor that comes through clearly and a vegetable flavor running alongside it that adds depth without taking over. We thought that the whole profile was more developed than the price point suggests.

James and I both agreed this is like an elevated Maruchan cup. It’s the familiar chicken comfort bowl but with noticeably more going on in the broth. The noodles have a good chew at a 2 out of 5 on thickness and they hold up well. No spice.

How Does It Compare

Within the Snapdragon lineup this is the best bowl we’ve reviewed. The Tonkotsu Spicy Pork is decent but thinner. The Buffalo Ranch is the most experimental. The Chicken is the most reliable. For a direct cup chicken ramen comparison the Sapporo Ichiban Original Flavor Cup is worth trying alongside it.

How to Level Up Snapdragon Chicken Ramen

Fresh minced garlic and grated ginger cooked into the broth โ€” both deepen the chicken flavor significantly and add a warmth that the bowl is already reaching toward. A soft boiled egg for richness.

Final Verdict

One of the better cup chicken ramens we’ve tried. The creaminess and fatty chicken flavor are good and the noodle quality backs it up. A low-expectation bowl that delivers more than it has any right to.
