I came into the Prima Taste Laksa La Mian already a fan of the brand. The Chili Crab and Curry flavors had both impressed me so expectations were high. This one delivered.
Produced in Singapore.

What’s in the Package
Inside the packaging, youโll find a round block of air-dried La Mian noodles and two large sachets. The sachet labeled (A) is the Laksa Paste, and the sachet labeled (B) is the Laksa Premix (coconut milk powder).

How to Cook Prima Taste Laksa La Mian
- In a pot, add the Laksa Paste (A) and Laksa Premix (B) to 500ml of water. Mix well and bring to a boil.
- Add the noodle block to the boiling broth.
- Reduce heat slightly and boil for 7 minutes.
- Stir gently and serve in a large bowl.

How Does It Taste
The coconut broth is rich and layered in a way that’s hard to find in an instant noodle. The umami depth is real. It’s got shrimp, coconut, and a complexity that keeps unfolding as you eat. The spice is a 2 out of 5, balanced by the coconut so it never overwhelms.
It tastes like something you’d order at a restaurant rather than make from a packet. That’s the best way I can describe what Prima Taste does consistently across their lineup.
The noodles are air-dried rather than fried which gives them a cleaner texture and they hold up well in the rich broth without going soft. The broth viscosity is a 3 out of 5. It’s thick enough to coat the noodles and feel substantial.
How Does It Compare
This is the best bowl in the Prima Taste lineup we’ve reviewed. The Chili Crab has the most distinct flavor identity. The Singapore Wholegrain is the most everyday option. The Laksa has the most complexity and the richest broth of the three. If you’re only going to try one Prima Taste flavor start here.

How to Level Up Prima Taste Laksa La Mian
Steamed bok choy adds freshness and cuts through the richness without competing with the broth. Chicken breast soaks up the coconut laksa broth in a way that makes every bite more substantial. Fish balls or tofu skin dropped in while the noodles cook are also natural additions for this format.
Final Verdict
One of the best instant noodles we’ve tried across any brand or price point. The coconut broth is impressive and the noodle quality backs it up. Pay the premium. It’s worth it.

It’s a pricier instant noodle, but it’s my go-to for a substantial quick meal. I often add frozen fish balls while the noodles cook, tofu, and if I have it, fresh cilantro. My favorite topping for this has to be a fried tofu skin roll which soaks up the delicious broth.
I had this once when I was craving Laksa (a Malaysian noodle dish) and it definitely satisfied the craving. I wouldn’t say it’s extremely authentic but I LOVED the noodles raw texture, but that might just be because I’m a sucker for thin noodles. The broth is definitely very rich, just like a Laksa should be. I would recommend at least try it once! I’m really excited to try the Chilli Crab flavour next ๐
