Vifon is a Vietnamese brand I’ve reviewed a few times now and their bean thread noodle range is one of the lighter options in the instant noodle space. I love a good seafood broth, so I was interested to see how this crab flavor would taste.
Produced in Vietnam.

What’s in the Package
Inside you get a bundle of glass noodles, a seasoning packet, and an oil packet. The dried toppings including scallions and fish cake pieces are already mixed in with the soup base.

How To Prepare It
Add the noodles and packes into a bowl. Add boiling hot water and cover for 3 minutes. One recommendation from our experience: use about 300ml of boiling water instead of the 400ml the instructions call for. At full volume the broth becomes so thin it loses almost all flavor.

How Does It Taste
The bowl looks better than it tastes. The colorful oils and fish cake pieces make for a visually appealing setup, and I went in hopeful. The crab flavor is there but it’s very faint. It reminded me of a whisper of Bun Rieu rather than an actual crab broth. The seasoning feels like it barely made contact with the water.
The broth is thin and mild. Even with the reduced water amount it needs help from additional seasoning.
The noodles are standard thin bean threads. They’re light and delicate and hold up reasonably well. At 170 calories this is one of the lighter options in the database, which gives it some appeal as a base if you’re willing to build on it.

How Does It Compare
The most natural comparison on the site is the Vifon Instant Bean Thread Chicken Flavor. That one has the same glass noodle format and a similarly light broth. Both bowls share the same core issue. The flavor doesn’t come through strongly enough on its own. The Chicken flavor leans citrus forward in a way that at least registers. This one is just quiet.

Final Verdict
This bowl needs salt, acid, and heat to come alive. Fish sauce is the most important addition here, just a little. I would recommend half a teaspoon. And add a squeeze of lime for brightness that cuts through the blandness.
Chili oil or Sriracha wakes the whole bowl up. Imitation crab meat on top reinforces the flavor the broth is trying to deliver, and sliced onions add some texture and freshness.
