Ve Wong Sesame Chicken is James’s brand. He grew up on it. It’s a Taiwanese chicken noodle soup made with chicken, ginger, and rice wine. It’s the kind of bowl that gets eaten in winter. James’s aunt once made a version of this dish for him when he was younger and didn’t burn off the alcohol. He got a little tipsy. He still talks about it.
Produced in Taiwan.

What’s in the Package
Inside the packaging, youโll find a rectangular block of thin, golden-brown wheat noodles and two flavoring components. A silver sachet contains the seasoning powder (soup base). This is paired with a transparent Flavored Oil sachet.

How to Cook Ve Wong Sesame Chicken
- Bring 2 cups (approx. 500ml) of water to a boil.
- Add the noodles and the seasoning powder. Boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add the Flavored Oil.
- Stir well and enjoy while piping hot.

How Does It Taste
The broth has a warming medicinal quality that’s hard to describe without referencing Taiwanese chicken soup specifically. The chicken and sesame oil are well-balanced and the ginger comes through as a gentle warmth throughout. Despite the small noodle brick and small seasoning packets the broth delivers a depth that surprised me. There’s a richness and comfort here that earns its place in the sick day and cold weather category.
No spice. Broth viscosity is a 2 out of 5. The noodles are thin and wavy and they absorb the sesame-chicken broth cleanly.
How Does It Compare
The most direct comparison is the TTL Wine Stewed Flavor Noodles. Both are Taiwanese instant noodles with a medicinal herbal warmth and rice wine in the profile. The TTL is more herbal and complex with the separate wine packet. The Ve Wong Sesame Chicken is simpler and more approachable with the sesame as the distinguishing note. For James this is the more personal bowl.

How to Level Up Ve Wong Sesame Chicken Flavor Noodle Soup
More fresh ginger cooked into the broth deepens the warming character significantly. Boiled chicken breast adds substance and echoes the existing flavor. Fresh green onions right before serving for a bright finish.
Final Verdict
A comforting bowl with a flavor profile that’s hard to find in the instant noodle space. The medicinal sesame chicken warmth is real and it earns the winter bowl reputation. James’s aunt’s version is apparently better but this is a strong instant second.
