There are two specific sachets included for the sauce: a large silver powder mix packet and a red liquid sauce packet that provides the signature spicy Shin heat. Unlike the soup versions, this variety does not include a separate vegetable flake packet.

How to Cook Nongshim Shin Toomba Stir Fry
- In a pot, bring 500ml (about 2 cups) of water to a boil.
- Add the noodle block and boil for 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat. Carefully drain the water, leaving approximately 5 to 8 tablespoons (approx. 80ml) of water in the pot.
- Add both the powder mix and the liquid sauce to the noodles.
- Turn the heat back to low and stir-fry the noodles for about 30 seconds until the sauce thickens into a creamy, glossy consistency. Serve immediately.
How Does It Taste
The smell when you open it is immediately cheesy and appealing. The creaminess comes through in the sauce in a way that’s hard to describe without referencing alfredo. It’s rich, it coats the noodles well, and it doesn’t have the sweetness that you get with Buldak Carbonara.
The spice is a 3 out of 5. It builds gradually and sits at a comfortable heat without overwhelming the creamy base. The noodles are thin and wavy. They pick up the sauce well and don’t get lost in it.
How Does It Compare
This is the direct comparison to Samyang Buldak Carbonara. The Buldak Carbonara is sweeter, slightly spicier, and has a more pronounced artificial cheese note. The Toomba is more savory and the creaminess feels more integrated into the sauce rather than sitting on top. If you’ve tried Buldak Carbonara and found it too sweet this one is worth trying. If you loved the Buldak sweetness you might find this one lacking that element.

How to Level Up Nongshim Spicy & Creamy Toomba Stir Fry Noodles
Add some sliced hot dogs cooked into the noodles at the end. Kimchi on the side adds tang and cuts through the richness. Pickled jalapeรฑos if you want more heat without changing the flavor profile.
Final Verdict
This is one of the more interesting dry noodle options in the Korean instant ramen space right now. The alfredo-adjacent flavor is distinctive, the spice is well calibrated, and the absence of sweetness sets it apart from Buldak. If the Carbonara format is your thing but Buldak’s sweetness isn’t, this is your bowl.

I really liked it! A lot less spicy than regular Shin, and the sauce is really creamy and smooth. I don’t like Buldak because of that sweet spicy taste it has and I was worried this would be the same but it’s so much better than Buldak! I do think the creamy taste is a little too much and I would prefer this to be more savoury but I love it
This is my current favorite of all time but hard to find T_T It’s everything i wish buldak was and more, both flavor and spice wise. In my opinion buldaks cheese powders have a weird almost grassy aftertaste that puts me off, and the spice is overpowering. Shin toomba has spice but it’s not overwhelming and you can clearly taste the yummy sauces :3 I can see why people might not like it but to me it’s literally perfect ^-^
I honestly disliked these at first, but when I tried them the second time, I appreciated the flavor a lot more. Theyโre quite creamy and cheesy, and have a bold flavor, so if youโre not into creamy ramens, this might not be your favorite.

I hate buldak carbonara, but I loved this! I paired it with pan-seared sirloin steak and it was so good! I might have missed some of the sweetness the other reviews are talking about, though, since my steak was heavily spiced (and might have overpowered). I’ve already repurchased, and I recommend you guys give this a try as well.
