Mr. Noodles is a Canadian brand and this is one I picked up while I was in Toronto. It’s not a product you typically see south of the border and that regional novelty was enough to make me grab a pack. The Beef Flavor is their straightforward entry and it lands in familiar territory for anyone who has eaten budget instant ramen in North America.
Produced in Canada.

What’s in the Package
Inside the packaging, you’ll find a rectangular block of dried wheat noodles and a seasoning powder packet.

How to Cook Mr. Noodles Beef Instant Noodles
- Stir well and serve immediately.
- Add noodles to 2 cups (500mL) of boiling water.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat. Add the contents of the soup base sachet.
One suggestion worth trying: rather than preparing this as a soup, drain most of the water after cooking and eat it as a dry noodle. The seasoning is strong enough that it works better concentrated on the noodle than diluted in a full broth.

How Does It Taste
The flavor profile is heavy salt and MSG from the first sip and it stays that way throughout. The beef note is there but it reads as artificial beef bouillon rather than anything with depth. It’s the same flavor you’d find in a Beef Top Ramen or Maruchan Beef packet. It’s familiar and comforting in a straightforward way without asking much of your palate.
James and I both agreed the seasoning concentration is the main talking point here. It’s assertive enough that the standard broth preparation with a full amount of water feels like it dilutes the flavor rather than showcasing it. The dry noodle approach, cooking the noodles and draining most of the water before adding the seasoning, concentrates everything and produces a more enjoyable result.
How Does It Compare
The most direct comparison is the Maruchan Beef Flavor Ramen. It’s the same category, same flavor direction, same budget positioning. The Mr. Noodles has a slightly heavier salt concentration and less of the onion-garlic aftertaste that defines the Maruchan Beef. Both are one-note artificial beef broths that work best with toppings. The Maruchan has more distribution and availability in the US but if you’re in Canada or find Mr. Noodles in an international grocery store it’s a solid comparable option.

How to Level It Up
More water or go fully dry. That’s the first change to make. I would add boiled napa cabbage and plain grilled chicken to keep it simple.
Final Verdict
Mr. Noodles Beef Instant Noodles is a Canadian take on the budget beef ramen that North American instant noodle fans will recognize immediately. The salt and MSG profile is heavy and the flavor is one-note but it delivers comfort in the straightforward way that makes budget ramen worth having around. Worth picking up if you find yourself in Toronto.

I agree that it is pretty salty, I often have them for lunch. I enjoy adding a boiled egg and a bit of spicy peanut oil to it!
I prefer the seafood flavored one but beef is the second choice โค๏ธ๐จ๐ฆ
Mr Noodles is a classic in my house, and usually my go-to for super cheap instant ramen. I do love the beef, but i also tried the shrimp, chilli and oriental flavor.
Honestly, I don’t have a set preference of what I would add to this. It really depends on what’s in my refrigerator at the time. Here, I added some leftover chicken and veggie stirfry I made the day before. For the broth, I added the seasoning packet with a bit of oyster sauce and black garlic, hence the dark color. It was delicious!
Classic Favourite! I grew up eating these.
However, I actually prefer the Mushroom or Chicken flavour for the extra umami.
I always cook the noodles slightly less than recommended ๐
Canadian Tip: Eat them after refrigerating! So good.
