Uni-President is a major Taiwanese food brand and their One More Cup line is a well known staple across Asia. I picked up the Chilli Beef flavor expecting something with a bit of fire given the name. What I got was something a little more understated than the packaging suggested, but still worth talking about.
Produced in Taiwan.

What’s in the Package
A noodle brick, a pink seasoning powder packet and a dark sauce and oil packet. Simple two packet setup inside the cup.

How to Prepare It
Open the packets and add them to the cup with the noodles. Pour boiling water to the fill line, cover and wait 3-5 minutes. Stir well before eating.

How Does It Taste
Despite the Chilli Beef label this leans heavily into a standard beef base with very little spicy character to speak of. The chilli is there in name more than in flavor. It’s a safe middleground option that works well for anyone who prefers a more traditional non-spicy beef soup, but if you’re coming in expecting heat you’ll be underwhelmed. The broth is extremely light with almost zero viscosity which makes the whole thing feel very thin.
The noodles are really thin too, sitting at a 1/5 on thickness, and while they’re delicate in the way cup noodles usually are they hold up reasonably well. Overall it’s predictable and consistent but it doesn’t leave much of an impression.

How Does It Compare
Compared to other beef cup noodles this sits on the milder and lighter end of the spectrum. Something like Maruchan Instant Lunch Beef is similarly light but at least delivers a bolder bouillon note. If you want an actual chilli beef experience with real heat and savory depth you’d be better served by something like Nongshim Shin Ramyun. This one is more suited to someone who finds most instant noodles too intense and wants something gentler.
How to Level Up Uni-President One More Cup Chilli Beef Flavor
Adding extra spice is the most obvious fix since the chilli element is barely present on its own. A few dashes of your favorite hot sauce or a drizzle of chili oil goes a long way. A soft boiled egg adds richness and protein that the thin broth is missing. Actual beef slices, even just some deli roast beef, significantly improve the savory depth and make the beef flavor feel more genuine. Fresh scallions or cilantro on top add brightness and a clean finish that helps balance the saltiness of the broth.

Final Verdict
A reliable and inoffensive cup noodle that plays it very safe. The Chilli Beef label oversells what’s actually in the bowl and anyone expecting bold heat will be disappointed. That said it has a pleasant smell and a clean straightforward flavor that works well as a base for additions. Best suited for those who prefer a milder bowl or are new to instant noodles.
