How Levels Work

Every time you rate a ramen on the site, you earn points. Points add up to levels, and your level shows next to your name on every review you leave. It’s a fun way to keep track of the ramen you’ve tried and see what other readers are eating.

How you earn points

Be the first reader to rate a ramen	+5 bonus

Bonuses are added on top of your review points. A 200+ character review with a photo, on a ramen nobody has rated yet, earns 18 points.

What each level unlocks

LV 1	1	Your level tag on every review you leave, plus your own member page.

LV 4	180	Pin your top 3 favorite ramen on your member page.
LV 5	360	A red tag, a red outline around your profile photo, a header pattern for your member page, and a shout-out in my newsletter.
LV 6	700	A Trusted Taster note next to your name on your reviews.
LV 7	1,200	A green tag and a green outline around your profile photo. You can also suggest a ramen for me to try. If I can find it, I'll taste it and mention you in the post and video.
LV 8	2,000	A personal thank-you video from me.
LV 9	3,200	A handwritten thank-you card and ramen stickers in the mail.
LV 10	4,800	A starred tag and a 15 minute video call to talk ramen.

For the rewards I send myself, like the newsletter shout-out, thank-you video, card and call, I'll reach out by email.

The rules

• You need a free member account to earn a level.
• You can rate each ramen once. If you edit your review, it’s scored on the new version.
• If a review gets removed as spam, its points go away too.
• Your level never goes down because you took a break.
• Ratings you left before levels started count too.

Your member page

Members who have rated at least one ramen get a public page with their level, a short about and the ramen they’ve rated. Tap any reviewer’s name to see theirs. Want to keep yours private? Turn on “Keep my profile private” on your profile page.
